Aussie man saves dog from being drowned by kangaroo

A video of an Aussie man saving his dog from being drowned by a kangaroo has gone viral.

I’m a 40 year old American and just recently learning kangaroos are not what they told me they were in grade school. Horrifying nightmarish creature!!!

This behaviour is a well-known instinctive defence tactic for kangaroos. When a kangaroo is being chased by a dog and the dog refuses to back off, the kangaroo will enter a body of water to waist deep and wait for the dog to follow. The dog has to swim to approach the kangaroo which is standing up, so once the dog goes in out of its depth, the dog is at the kangaroo’s mercy. Inexperienced dogs simply do not realise the danger they are in, and many dogs have been drowned this way.
This dog was very lucky that it had an owner and another person on hand, willing to physically tackle a big roo. I hope this experience was a wakeup call for the owner to begin obedience training for his dog; in the future ,having his dog willing to return to him immediately on command may save that dog’s life.

That kangaroo either baptized this man for a few seconds or hit him with a mean combo and made him rethink life. The hysterical walk off laugh says it all.

never realized how creepy a red male kangaroo looks. They have humanoid looking chests and forearms. I didnt know that kangaroos don’t like dogs.
